With our good fortune, it seems the soil, clay, frankincense and myrrh beneath our building will be sufficient for our tanks as long as we pour a 12 inch concrete pad on top of the 3.5 inch pad (left).

Tanks awaiting or maybe that should be thanks for waiting.  We have arrived (below).

I’d like to think the ole Jakemeister could catch a break but does not seem to be the case.  The weather is going to break soon and we need to get a major move on our concrete pad but we oddly are now insulating the building and cannot work inside for the next week and a half as everything is wrapped up.  This is the equivalent of running out of gas on the highway. having to walk 20 miles to get gas, getting attacked by hyena (not funny) along the way and falling into the Mississippi.  (Does anyone ever spell that without singing it or thinking about tackling someone next to them?)  Then when you have finally limped back to your car and you get in to start the engine, you realize some punk kid stole your steering wheel.  So you get out of your car and slip on the ice.  I think that about sums it up.

To keep it interesting we are receiving 2 of 3 trucks this week with our brewing equipment and it will be installed the first week of March.  By will, I mean it will.  When the spray foam is done we will have a major push to knock out the concrete pad and then..wait for it... keep waiting... just a little more.

Shazam! We will be moving ahead.  Well this is what the captain claims and by the power invested in the captain we will either get this brewery open or we will painfully watch as the captain succumbs to a life in an eternal dunking booth at some state fair’s carnival.  I guess that wouldn’t be so bad.  I sure do like cotton candy.

Bring it on.  We can handle it.  Perseverance and diligence goes a long way.

But here are the other developments.  We are working on designing our bar and collectively with our Carpenter, Jim (when sober) has been taking our thoughts and making it come to life.  We also are having the great Ray Brinker come back in for some brick work.  We have drywall tapers lined up and windows and doors ready to go in.  We also have a life sized Jonas Salk that will greet customers when they walk in.  (Actually that part is made up but if anyone has a life sized Jonas Salk could you send it to me.)   Best yet, I will start painting the outside of the warehouse and in a few weeks things will be taking shape.  We are still on schedule for a June opening but it does hinge on one major thing.  Our brewer’s license (currently in process) will need to be approved because simply you can’t open a brewery without beer.

Well that’s the lowdown on the show down.  We have been kicking around ideas for our food program and I am quite excited with the approach we are taking.  I wouldn’t look for ground breaking cuisine out of our brewery but we will have much good food and best yet you can eat it without having to cut out purchasing any of that expensive bling you are into.

I’ll spell check later. Working at Foundation Grounds in Maplewood for a bit having a coffee and Quiche.  Also, I should give a shout out to the Bleeding Deacon which has become my office away from my office away from my home office.

On another note, I went to a meeting yesterday with Dylan and (guy to be named later).  Guy to be named later showed up with his hair all messed up and I took one look at both of them and said, “Great, now it looks like I have hired two homeless guys to open a brewery.” I am sure they thought, “That is two of the most talented homeless guys anyone could ever meet.” To which I would have agreed.

I will write more next time sobriety invades my life.  (half-joking)

Hello earthlings. I have been sent here to open a brewery. I hope you have time over the next year to check in from time to time and see our progress (or lack there of at times).

I look forward to helping you come along for the ride through this blog. For me, there is no better feeling than creating a place and a product that becomes part of peoples lives. I am focused, immensely passionate and hopeful that each of you one day will toast “To the Civil Life.”
